Education USA Hannover emerged from the former "Amerika-Haus" and since 1999 operates as a small advising center maintained by the State of Lower Saxony, Northern Germany. It is the only Center in Germany which is hosted by a local university, Fachhochschule Hannover / University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

With one staff member only, the Center reaches out to a widespread and diverse population in Lower Saxony and much beyond. The advisor, who is a U.S.-trained librarian, mainly offers individual advising via e-mail, telephone, and in-person. In addition, a comprehensive website is maintained. Since 2006, Education USA Hannover also operates a TOEFL iBT Testing Center.
